Whole Foods’ community day

Whole Foods Market is holding another Community Support Day on Saturday, July 24. Five percent of all the proceeds from the Whole Foods stores in Kahului and in Kāhala on O‘ahu on that day will help in production costs of a local film, INGREDIENTS Hawai‘i, which highlights local food that “embraces a return to a Hawai‘i-produced diet to strengthen the islands’ economies, improve health and preserve culture traditions.” The community days are held one day each quarter, and Whole Foods has given more than $26,000 to groups through the program since opening its first store in Hawai‘i in 2008. The market and INGREDIENTS Hawai‘i representatives will also host a “Farm to Plate” contest winners cook-off with local celebrity chefs on July 24 at the Kahului locale.
