Starting on Sunday, July 22, Maui's Rotary Clubs will spend weekends at the entrances to a number of business establishments to collect school supplies for the children of Maui.
Rotarians will hand out lists of school supply items needed by our island keiki and teachers and store patrons are encouraged to purchase any of these needed items or to make a monetary donation.
Once collected, Rotary Club members will divide and deliver the supplies and funds to schools and community programs that help children in need on Maui.
School Supplies Drives
This is the sixth consecutive year that the School Supplies Drive has been sponsored by Maui's Rotary Clubs.
See the sidebar for School Supplies Drive dates and locations. Most drives will operate between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The Rotary Clubs of Valley Isle Sunset, Lahaina, Lahaina Sunrise, Kahului, Kihei-Wailea, Maui, Upcountry and Wailuku thank the members of the Maui community in advance for their participation.
This island-wide School Supplies Drive is one of the many community service projects sponsored by the Rotary Clubs on Maui. The clubs on Maui are a part of Rotary Internationals' global network of more than 32,000 clubs in 207 countries. Rotary International consists of 1.2 million professional men and women who, as civic leaders, volunteer to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities.
For more information about these clubs or to make a contribution for school supplies, contact Maui Assistant District Governors Rita Barreras at 264-0491 or Joanne Laird at 757-0981.
