Softballs continue to fly at South Maui Community Park field on Sundays. Sunday, Dec. 9, started as usual with our 50-and-over gang. Kevin Fanara hit the game's first pitch over the left field fence for a homerun, and Jus Enuf cruised to a 16-3 win over Maui 5-0 Blue.

The day's second game between Maui 5-0 Gray and En Fuego was a close one, tied 8-8 after four innings, until the Gray team came up with 10 unanswered runs in the last two innings to pull away and win 18-8. Bob Chapman went three for four, knocked in three runs and also scored the runs to lead the Gray squad.

The Cove Park 'Ohana (CPO) took a 3-0 lead into the third inning, but it was all Platinum after that, coming away with a 19-5 win. Ikaika Kenolio and Lynn Pieper combined to go six for six and knock in four runs for Platinum. Dale Fernandez was CPO's top batter, going two for two with one run batted in.

The Beach Bums banged out 14 hits during a 14-run second inning to roll over Red Line 16-4. Krystal Cabanting was three for three with two RBIs, and Andrew Raikes was two for three to lead The Bums, while Eric Garza was Red Lines top hitter, going two for two with one RBI.

League-leading So Wut and the 808 Grinders played a tight, defensive game, with So Wut coming out on top 5-1. Sean Gordon and Melvina Kanaha went a combined four for five with two RBIs for So Wut, with Alicia Affinito leading the Grinders, going two for two.

The last game of the night featured second-place Boom and third-place Nuts and Honeys. In a very offensive-minded game, Boom jumped out to an 8-0 lead, but Nuts and Honeys kept chipping away, tying the score at 11 after five innings before Boom got just enough at the end to win 15-12. Caitlyn Selby was three for four with two RBIs, while Keoni Cabanting had a huge game, going five for five, with two homeruns and eight runs batted in for Boom. Michelle Kemper topped Nuts and Honeys with four for five and one RBI, and Alex Roman Jr. was three for four with two RBIs.

The Coed Softball League wrapped up on Dec. 23 with a single elimination playoff (results to be announced next week).
