We are Michigan residents, who, after nine trips to Maui, purchased a condo at Kihei Villages last year. We subscribe to The Maui News and have followed the story about the outlet and retail malls. It has been a confusing, conflicted tale.
We are vacationing on Maui now, and I just read Susan Halas' editorial, "American Idol for Lawyers," in the Dec. 28-Jan 2 issue. Ms. Halas did an outstanding job of metaphorically unraveling the cacophony surrounding the proposed construction.
She even made me laugh when I pictured her with a sweater wrapped around her head.
I wish I could subscribe to the Maui Weekly on the Mainland.
Again, congratulations on the outstanding piece of literary journalism.
