Larry Ellison, the billionaire owner of the Oracle Corp. who bought most of the island of Lana'i at the end of last year, is in the process of buying interisland airline Island Air.
Michael Rodyniuk, a spokesman for Island Air, is also reportedly said that the new buyer is doing "due diligence" with the company books and that a sales transaction could be concluded by mid-February.
"The possible purchase of Island Air will bring positive changes to both the airline and areas within our district," said Rep. Mele Carroll (D, District 13). "Island Air's fleet needs some updating, so I hope that Mr. Ellison will consider this in order to assure the safety of interisland passengers."
