FIFTY AND OVER SENIOR SOFTBALL LEAGUE

On Sunday, Jan. 13, Benito Alconcel went four for five with three RBIs, and Frances Tom Sun was four for five with two RBIs, leading En Fuego to their first win of the season, 18-12 over Maui 5-0 Blue. Bob Schumacher was the Blue team's top hitter, going three for three with two RBIs, followed by Barry Carlson, who went three for four with three RBIs.

The second game was a 13-10 Maui 5-0 Gray win over Wasabi. Bob Chapman led the way for the Gray team, going four for four, with three RBIs, followed by Scott Buckles, who went three for four and scored three runs. Clayton Fernandez topped Wasabi, going two for four with one RBI.

The senior season wrapped up on Sunday, Jan. 27, with a single-elimination playoff at the South Maui Community Park field. Results will be published in next week's issue.

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE - FRYERS

Monday, Jan. 14, was opening day for the Fryers Division (7-8 year olds). Getting it all started, Da Kine got by Lanakila 22-12. Kawika Clarke scored 10 points, and Zackery Bragg had six for Da Kine. Skylar Blair led Lanakila with four points, and Mason Higgins added two for Lanakila.

Next, the Rising Stars edged the Falcons 24-22 with Kiana Manuel scoring eight points and Raiden Ravida scoring six. Paul Yamane had a game-high 12 points to lead the Falcons, with Laura Fakavai chipping in with four points.

Finishing the afternoon's play, the Titans ran past Lanakila 24-12. Kobie Pagan and Sylas Sablas each scored eight points to top the Titans. Amber Donnelly scored six points, and Charles Biegel added two for Lanakila.

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, Sylas Sablas scored 10 points, and Dejshon Evans scored six as the Titans edged the Falcons 22-20. The Falcons got six points each from Bryanna Molina and Paul Yamane.

Next up, another close game between SWAG and the Rising Stars was won by SWAG 30-28. Brayden Rodrigues and Sione Afemui scored 10 points each to lead SWAG, while Raiden Ravida scored a game high 16 points for the Rising Stars, who also got six points from Luke Alwood.

Wrapping up play for the week, the Blue Devils ran past Lanakila 32-14. Tyzon Buduan-Tagud topped the Devils with eight points, and Matthew Hirata added six. Keni Blue Geyser and Arlee Milliron each scored six points to lead Lanakila.

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, the Falcons opened an 18-2 halftime lead, then held off Lanakila 30-22. Laura Fakavai led the way with 10 points, followed by Aidan Quinn with eight points. Arlee Milliron topped Lanakila with 12 points, with Ajah Rajvong adding four points.

Next, it was Swag over the Titans 32-26 behind Sione Afemui's 14 points, and Brayden Rodrigues' 10 points. Raymond Steben scored 14 points for the Titans, with Dejshon Evans adding six.

Matthew Hirata scored 12 points and Tyzon Buduan-Tagud chipped in with 10 points as the Blue Devils topped Da Kine 32-22. Zackery Bragg scored 12 points for Da Kine and Jameson Tidwell added six.

Finally, it was the Rising Stars over Elite 28-10. Jeiven Agaran was high scorer for the Stars with 6 points, Jarin Tateishi added 4 points. Silina Damuni led Elite with 4 points.

Fryers Division games continue Monday and Wednesday afternoons at Kamali'i School.

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE - JR. MIDGETS

Tuesday, Jan. 22, saw our Jr. Midgets Division get started with four great games.

Last season's champion, the Eagles, opened their title defense with a 26-14 win over the Clippers. Eric Doolin led the way with 12 points, and Henry Johnston added eight for the Eagles, while the Clippers got eight points from Isaiah Richardson.

Next, the Rising Stars took a big lead, then held on the defeat the Kihei Sharks 32-26 behind Perdon Abner's 15 points and Isaiah Chee's six. The Sharks were led by Aidan Vigneux with 10 points and Kanen Lamonica's six points.

Taking the court next, the Flames ran past the Cobras 31-15. Chris Rummans and Brycetyn Bocco scored six points each for the Flames. Ben Janssen scored 12 points to top the Cobras.

The final game of the night was full of action, but not much scoring with the Heat knocking off Swag 17-5. Keanu Akina-Ancog scored five points to pace the Heat. Tyler Ramos' three-pointer led Swag.

On Thursday, Jan. 24, the Eagles opened the afternoon with a hard fought 28-22 win over the Cobras. Henry Johnston's 15 points paced the Eagles, with Eric Doolin chipping in eight points. Ben Janssen scored 12 points for the Cobras.

Next, the Heat got by the Rising Stars 28-18. Christian Lee scored seven points and Bronson Kulukulualani added six. Zoren Atijera led the Stars with six points.

Eight players scored for the Flames, led by Chris Rummans and Kobe Orano, who scored four points apiece as the Flames ran past Swag 30-12. Tevita Mafileo topped Swag with seven points.

Lastly, Raider Damuni scored 19 points as Elite defeated a scrappy Kihei Sharks team 31-17. Elijah Mertens led the Sharks with six points.

Nine teams are in this year's Jr. Midgets Division. Games are played Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kalama Park. The first game tips at 4 p.m.
