Rick Nu'u of Vancouver Island recently passed away. To honor him, Kimokeo Kapahulehua organized a memorial and ashes ceremony held at the Kihei Canoe Club on Saturday, Feb. 2. Nu'u was in the fitness industry for over 25 years. A former Maui resident and head coach for the Hawaiian Canoe Club, he coached and competed internationally in outrigger canoe racing since 1990. He was involved with yearly canoe camps held on Maui focused on OC-1/Surfski skills and also built canoe paddles for 11 years.
