Maui March Madness!

Enjoy a wild time for a good cause.

March 21, 2013
Debra Lordan , The Maui Weekly

Even better than a basketball tournament, it's Maui March Madness! Three of the nine Rotary Clubs on Maui and Mulligan's On The Blue will present the third annual March Madness fundraiser for local community and international Rotary projects on Saturday, March 30, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Mulligan's On The Blue in Wailea.

Event proceeds will go toward student scholarships, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp, award-winning e-cycling programs, Kihei Boat Ramp, Cultural Heritage Trails, Rotary Youth Exchange, and all of the community service projects supported by the Rotary Clubs of Kihei-Wailea, Valley Isle Sunset and Upcountry Maui.

For example, the nine Rotary Clubs on Maui recently sent 28 Maui sophomores and juniors to the Rotary Global Peace Conference in Honolulu in January, where they met peace activists from all over the world, and keynote speaker Aung Sang Suu Kyi, Burma's pro-democracy leader and Nobel Peace laureate.

Rotary’s annual March Madness event is a fun fundraiser for local community and international projects.

Rock band I Want Candy will keep the dance floor packed all night. I Want Candy has been wowing the locals with foot-stomping dance music at Mulligan's and Kihei Fourth Friday Town Parties.

You will flip out on Mulligan's divine food stations, which will include the pub's signature dishes, such as beer-battered fish 'n' chips and shepherds' pie.

And, go bananas at the pub's no-host bar throughout the evening while you explore the silent and live auctions comprised of the best Maui has to offer at ridiculously reasonable prices.

Go ahead and go bonkers--it's all for a great cause! Local raconteur Tom Blackburn-Rodriguez will serve as the official emcee and auctioneer--if he's not 'round the bend

Live and silent auction items will include astonishing artwork from Ki'i Gallery, golf rounds and hotel stays, not to mention dining certificates to some of Maui's most elegant eateries.

But wait! Hold onto your hats! Enter the Crazy Hat Contest for a chance to win "onolicious" prizes!

The Rotary Clubs of Maui invite everyone to participate in the third annual Maui March Madness fundraiser. Don't miss out on the wildest time you can (legally) have in the state of Hawai'i.

Tickets are $55. Visit to purchase tickets or call Kim Dobson at 264-2259, or Mark Harbison at 283-3785.
