The Maui Weekly

On Friday, March 22, people around the world will stop to dance. Dance Anywhere, a free, global public art event, is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Waipu'ilani in Kihei. Everyone is invited. No experience or rehearsals are needed!

Dance Anywhere is a simultaneous worldwide public art performance in which anyone and everyone can be a star! For the past nine years, people of all ages and artistic capacities have performed dances in parks, museums, street corners, schools, work places, community centers, offices and just about anywhere you can imagine.

Participants have been professional dancers and artists, plumbers, doctors, soccer players, teachers and politicians. Some dances are choreographed, some are improvised, and some stretch the definition of what dance is.
