Registration is now open for Aha Hana Lima Workshops series sponsored by nonprofit Hawai'i Craftsmen and hosted throughout the state.
One of the featured artists, Carol Gouthro, will present a lecture and a workshop on Maui.
Gouthro, a graduate of University of Manitoba School of Art in Canada, is a Seattle-based ceramic artists and educator who has been working and exhibiting for over 30 years. Gouthro has an extensive record, with 25 solo shows and numerous invitational and juried exhibitions. Her ceramic work has been published in numerous books and magazine portfolios.
"Clay Lecture with Carol Couthro" will be held on Thursday, April 4, at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Hawai'i Maui College in Heona II (ceramics classroom). The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m.
"Clay Workshop with Carol Gouthro" will be held on Friday, April 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. and on April 6 and 7, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the same classroom.
In this hands-on workshop, Gouthro will demonstrate and participates will explore the various hand-building techniques that she uses to achieve her unusual and complex forms.
Tuition is $250 for Hawai'i Craftsmen members; $300 for non-members; and $150 for full-time student members with identification.
The lab fee is approximately $50 (the exact amount will follow registration and must be paid by the first session).
