May 9, 2013
Cindy Schumacher , The Maui Weekly

Volunteer and Volunteen Heroes were honored during April's 2013 National Volunteer Week Celebration of Service in the Mayor's Conference Room on April 23. Awarded by a proclamation from Mayor Alan Arakawa (center) for their hours of outstanding service to the Maui community are (left to right): Isaiah Ragasa, Rosalie Yoshida, David Bulliment, Kaipo Thomas, Rhonda Cua Barut and Alicia Ballesteron. "The county depends on volunteers to keep Maui going," said Mayor Arakawa. "We are honoring hundreds and thousands of hours from volunteers that inspire and empower actions that make our island what it is today." "My parents instilled in me the importance of giving back to the community in some way," said Ragasa (left), Volunteen Hero from St. Anthony High School.
