The Grand Wailea Hotel has been named the Job Corps Employer of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes the hotel for being an outstanding employer partner with the Job Corps culinary arts program. The Grand Wailea has an international reputation for excellence in service and fine dining. Executive Chef Eric Favre and his assistant chefs----Executive Sous-Chef Adrian Aina and Banquets Chef Royden Sato--have been able to instill this level of excellence in the Job Corps graduates.
"The Grand Wailea has been collaborating with the Maui Job Corps' culinary program for ten years in hiring and developing the future chefs of Maui," said Bob Upton, Maui Job Corps site director. "They have hired numerous Job Corps graduates over the years. Currently, 10 percent of their kitchen staff are Job Corps graduates."
Chef Favre reports that the Job Corps students that come to his kitchen are passionate towards the job and come with positive attitudes.
