Summer of L-O-L & Sesame Street

July 25, 2013
Maui Weekly

Everybody will have a chance to giggle, snort, chortle and chuckle this weekend at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (The MACC). Between Elmo's silly songs and Augie T's crazy antics, there will be "a whole lotta laughter goin' on!"

On Friday night, July 26, Hawai'i's award-winning comedian Augie T will start his three-part "Summer of L-O-L" comedy series again. Augie T has won two Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, was voted Best Comedy Show by "Honolulu Magazine" and winner of "The Honolulu Weekly's" Favorite Comedian award. Augie T has three No. 1-selling comedy DVDs, and is the only comedian to sell out the Blaisdell Arena. He's a comedy favorite on local TV and radio, too.

And this Friday, he will bring a surprise comedy guest to The MACC to launch the 2013 version of last summer's popular "Augie T's Summer of LOL" comedy show series in the McCoy Studio Theater. The other two shows will come to Maui in August and September with a different show and different special guest each time. Call it "serial" laughter!

Augie T invites you to LOL!

As one of his fans said in an online review, Augie T can create the "healing belly laugh that just shakes away all your cares and releases any tension." Come and laugh out loud with Augie T.

The keiki are going to be tickled pink with Elmo and friends with the national touring production of Sesame Street Live this weekend, Friday through Sunday, July 26 to 28. There are six show times over the weekend so that everyone can have a chance to enjoy the fun: Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m., 2 and 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 and 4:30 p.m.

What happens during this theatrical experience? Singing and dancing with everyone's favorite Sesame Street friends, live on stage! The story: Elmo gets a hold of Abby Cadabby's magic wand and turns Sesame Street into an all-singing, all-dancing musical extravaganza!

You'll see (and hear!) Grover, Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie, Murray, Baby Bear and more! But as with all Sesame Street productions, there are lessons to be learned. The little ones will come away with a message about why it feels good to make sound but why it's good to stop, too!

Call 242-SHOW (7469) or visit The MACC Box Office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Tickets can also be purchased online at
