Maui Economic Opportunity Inc. will host two public stakeholder meetings on Thursday, Dec. 5, to discuss the development of a one-call/one-click transportation coordination center to simplify locating information about available transportation and scheduling rides for community members.
These meetings will inform attendees about the current Veteran's Transportation One-Call/One-Click project secured by a grant to the County of Maui from the Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative, which is designed to increase collaboration among federal, state and local agencies, and organizations, to address the mobility challenges faced by our nation's veterans, service members, and their families.
These are the first of many public engagement sessions planned for this process. The meetings will be held at Waiola Church Hall at 535 Wainee St. in Lahaina from 10 to 11 a.m., and Maui Economic Opportunity Inc. at 99 Mahalani St. in Wailuku from 3 to 4 p.m.
The center would simplify locating information about available transportation and scheduling rides for community members.
This is a federal initiative from the Department of Transportation together with the Departments of Defense, Health and Human Services, Labor and Veterans Affairs.
These meetings include opportunities for stakeholder input on the planning and development process.
Although these meetings are sponsored by the Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative, all members of the public interested in public transportation on Maui are encouraged to attend and provide input.
