Maui Author to Hold Book Signing

December 12, 2013
Maui Weekly

Maui author Darrienne Heller will hold a book signing for "Deepening Our Connection: A Guide for the Wisdom Years" on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. at Awakening in Paradise in the Longs's Shopping Center in Kihei. She will read select passages and answer questions from the attendees.

The book speaks to the growing elder generation seeking personal and spiritual support. Inspired by the ancient Hawaiian concept of 'ohana, an intentional family of friends, this visionary guide shows people of all ages where to turn for deep and meaningful connection.

"Deepening Our Connection" is a timely invitation to recreate bonds of trust for life in specifically designed support groups, the Angel 'Ohana. In this action-based guide, Heller offers deep inquiry into the questions of life and death often ignored in our youth oreiented society.

Heller is a UCLA pioneer in group design and facilitation and wrote the guide in her own "wisdom years." Over the past decade, she has launched these familial support groups on Maui, empowering people in the art of deep and meaningful connection for a better life.

Heller shows how to create circles of support from Maui to Manhattan, navigate the challenges of aging and embrace the purpose of the later years. "Deepening Our Connection" contains guidelines for individuals and group facilitators desiring to form Angel 'Ohanas in their communities.

Heller is currently working on a book about people who have lived through coma and have experienced the illuminating bridge between life and death.

"Deepening Our Connection" is available on Amazon, at Awakening in Paradise and at the Death Store in Ha'iku.
