Aspen Santa Fe Ballet

February 20, 2014
Maui Weekly

"Dance is a celebration of the human spirit, and not a celebration of steps. At Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, we foster the spirit and the love of dance."--Jean-Philippe Malaty, Executive Director

Described by the New York Post as "magical and poetic," Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is a company of classically trained dancers who perform an eclectic repertoire by some of the world's foremost choreographers. Maui Arts & Cultural Center (The MACC) presents this company on a return visit to the Castle Theater stage, featuring world-class ballet and exquisite contemporary dance on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet (ASFB) inspires its audiences with a refreshing collection of new work by today's most innovative choreographers. But ASFB is not just a troupe of exuberant and sophisticated dancers; it is also an institution that maintains a nationally recognized, professional dance company, a center for dance education, and a gathering place for the finest dancers and choreographers in the world. This is "a model of what a small classic company should be," said Clive Barnes in Dance Magazine.
