Energy, Water and Waste Monitoring Classes

March 6, 2014
Maui Weekly

The University of Hawai'i Maui College EdVenture's upcoming trainings will address how to identify and monitoring inefficient ways energy and water are being used and waste is being disposed of.

"It's no longer out of reach for home owners or entry-level maintenance workers to spot and measure where energy or water is being wasted," said Mark Ausbeck, instructor for INNOVATE Hawai'i-sponsored trainings. "With the right tools and online programs, anyone can measure, record, analyze and create a unique reporting dashboard for any given building. Nothing makes the case for equipment upgrades and behavior changes like a visual display of what's going on."

From 6 to 8:30 p.m., on March 18 and 20, and April 1, 3 and 10, Ausbeck, an electrical engineer and senior project manager for High Technology Development Corporation/ INNOVATE Hawai'i, and Ben Howard, an Excel instructors at EdVenture, will partner to teach "Energy Monitoring and Reporting: Online Dashboards."

Instruction in Excel, entering data into spreadsheets and creating customized online dashboards will make it possible to view data information, monitor equipment and check for improvements after equipment or behavior changes.

The tuition for these two trainings is very low due to sponsorship by INNOVATE Hawai'i. To register, call 984-3231. Email mvstephe@hawaii.edu.
