The public is invited to "Celebrate the Paniolo" at the 49th Annual Paniolo Parade on Saturday, July 5, beginning at 9 a.m., in Historic Makawao Town.
This colorful, Hawaiian-style, Wild West parade will include a stickhorse race at 8:45 a.m., rodeo royalty, beauty queens, marching bands, music, floats, foliage draped pa'u riders, classic cars, and cowboys and cowgirls dressed in their parade best.
All will compete for the coveted trophies during this two-hour Upcountry tradition.
Makawao Paniolo Parade & Rodeo: Bull’s Head
The 59th Annual Makawao Rodeo will be presented on July 3, 4, 5 and 6 by the Maui Roping Club at Oskie Rice Arena on Olinda Road above Makawao.
On Thursday and Friday, July 3 and 4, qualifying runs will be held all day beginning at 9 a.m. Admission is free. The Bull Bash on Friday begins at 7 p.m. with an admission fee of $15 for adults.
On Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6, the rodeo will begin at 1 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $5 for keiki.
On parade day, public parking will be provided at the Eddie Tam Memorial Center and the Oskie Rice Arena. Spectators parking at the Oskie Rice arena will be shuttled to Makawao Town between 7 and 9 a.m. to watch the parade. After the parade, the shuttles will run from Makawao to the Oskie Rice Arena until noon.
